SWMD of SJC HHW Supervisor

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility Supervisor.  Reports to Director.

Salary: $50,000/ year - Exempt

Job Overview:

The HHW Supervisor is responsible for the daily workflow of the facility.  This includes employee training, time management/scheduling, supply and vendor coordination.  This position will participate with the Director in hiring, discipline, and training of HHW employees as well as daily interaction with the public.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Responsible for inventory and supplies for facility.
• Coordinates vendor delivery and collection of materials.
• General maintenance of the warehouse/grounds.
• Assists in hiring, training and staff reviews. This includes promoting daily work safety and positive interaction with the public.
• Works along with staff in the day-to-day collections of material from the public.
• Knowledge of SWMD functions and personnel policies.

 Qualifications:

Candidates should have Supervisory experience in a warehouse setting. Knowledge of hazardous materials and/or HAZWOPPER training is preferred.

 Excellent communication skills with the public and staff. Able to write and communicate personnel reviews.

 Ability to work under time constraints while maintaining diplomacy, tact, and courtesy.

 Be free from bias regarding sex, race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, disabilities, religious affiliation, and gender identification.

 Must have a valid driver’s license and have Forklift experience.

 Much of the work in this position is done in a warehouse setting, hot and cold temperatures will be prevalent.

 Basic Microsoft computer knowledge/functionality is necessary.
