Incumbent serves as shuttle driver for the canoe/kayak rental program for the parks.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Transporting renters and vessels in a 15-passenger van with trailer between Keller Park, St. Patrick’s County Park, and the Niles, MI public landing.

 

Prepares the canoe van and trailers for reservations, including loading, fueling, and hooking up the trailers.

 

Assists the public with carrying, loading, and launching of vessels.

 

Assists with communications, cash register, and paperwork necessary for the rentals.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Must be at least 21 years of age with a good driving record.

 

Must possess or be able to obtain an Indiana For-Hire Endorsement or Michigan Chauffeur’s License.

 

 

 

Education/Experience

 

Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

 

Must have experience towing and backing a trailer.

 

Physical Requirements

 

Incumbent performs duties involving varying weather conditions, sitting/standing/walking for long periods, sitting/walking at will, pushing/pulling objects, bending, reaching, crouching/kneeling, close/far vision, color depth perception, hearing sounds/communication, speaking clearly, handling/grasping objects. Incumbent maintains considerable contact with the public and may be exposed to irate/difficult persons.

 

Must have the ability to lift objects of 50 lbs. or more, including carrying objects up a slope.
