POSITION: LEGAL SECRETARY

DEPARTMENT:  ST. JOSEPH COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

WORK SCHEDULE: MONDAY – FRIDAY, 8:00a.m. THROUGH 4:30p.m.

JOB CATEGORY: OPTIONAL/PREFERRED

SALARY: $39,537 PER YEAR

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

Responsibilities

 

Provide administrative assistance to the Juvenile Justice Center Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. 

 

Enter all incoming cases the office receives into the INPCMS database record keeping program. 

 

Assist with preparing all follow-up correspondence such as subpoenas and discovery to defense using our e-discovery system. 

 

If requested by the deputy prosecutor, they will attend pretrial conferences and/or court to take notes.   

 

Additionally, this person will help process truancy petitions the Prosecutor’s Office receives from local school corporations. 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.

 

Ability to learn new data entry programs including but not limited to: INPCMS, Quest, Odyssey

 

Electronic filing of documents; answering telephones and message preparation

 

Ability to multitask.

 

Education/Experience

 

High school diploma.  

 

Experience with fast paced data entry and strict deadlines; highly organized. 

 

Criminal Justice degree preferred, but not required

 

Physical Requirements

 

Employee must be able to sit and perform common clerical tasks: carry files and supplies as needed; walk short distances to equipment and converse with co-workers regarding office duties.
