Position: Early/Absentee Vote Worker

Department: Clerk’s Election and Voter Registration

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am -4:30pm

                                Saturday 8:00am – 4:00pm (Only October 26 and Nov 2)

                                Sunday 12:00pm – 4:00pm (Only October 27 and November 3)

Status: Temporary September 30 – October 7 intermittent training (half days)

     October 8 - November 4, 2024 full day schedule

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Incumbent serves as Early Voting Election Worker for St. Joseph County Clerk’s office of Elections and Voter Registration, responsible for performing election duties during early voting.

 

 

DUTIES: 

Greet voters and direct voters to the proper check in lines

 Use election technology – electronic pollbook, Freedom Vote Machine, OpenElect Voting Optical Scan to assist voters in the voting process

 

 

Qualifications: 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach to voters. 

Attention to detail and discretion when handling voter’s information. 

Basic computer skills.  

Ability to follow detailed instructions and be a team player.

Adhere to “no political discussion” atmosphere.

Perform related duties as assigned. 

 PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:   Performs duties of a standard office environment, involving sitting/walking at will, sitting for long periods, bending, reaching, keyboarding, speaking clearly, close vision, and hearing sounds/communication.
