Supervises inmates in the St. Joseph County Jail in accordance with established policies, regulations, orders and procedures by performing the required duties.

Essential Functions: Observes inmate conduct and behavior. Takes necessary actions to prevent disturbance and escapes. Inspects all security measures for function ability. Conducts inmate searches for contraband. Observes and supervises inmates during work assignments. Patrols assigned areas, looks for forbidden activities or unsatisfactory performance. Reports observations to superiors in written and oral form. Employs weapons or force to maintain order among prisoners, when necessary. Escorts inmates when necessary. Inmate supervision responsibilities only.
