Incumbent serves as Director of Fleet for St. Joseph County Physical Assets Department, responsible for administering all aspects of fleet operations for the organization. This position involves managing the acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, and disposal of fleet vehicles and equipment, as well as ensuring compliance with safety standards and optimizing fleet efficiency. The Fleet Manager will collaborate with various departments and external vendors to meet the organization’s fleet management needs.

Responsibilities
Oversees the day-to-day operations of fleet management, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance scheduling, procurement functions, accounts payables processing, and asset disposal.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards governing fleet operations, as well as internal policies.
Plays a role in development and execution of policies and procedures to enhance fleet performance, utilization, and safety.
Works closely with Safety Risk Manager and operates as backup Safety officer when needed.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, safety standards, and procurement processes.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks congruently.
Proficient in data analysis, the use of Excel, Word, and similar software.
Financially aptitude to oversee multiple amortization schedules within a calendar year.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Education/Experience
Associates degree in a relevant field such as business management, logistics, safety risk, or transportation management optimal, or equivalent working experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform duties in a standard office environment, working at a desk and working on a computer.
Operating a motor vehicle and minimal lifting requirements in the field as needed.
