POSITION: Chief Deputy - Finance

DEPARTMENT: Clerk

WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 8:00AM-4:30PM

JOB CATEGORY: Exempt

SALARY: Up to $60,000 annually

STATUS: Full-time

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting preferred.
  • Five years of finance experience required.

Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Public service orientation and commitment to excellent and genuine customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll tax and compliance standards.

Essential Job Duties:

Working under the direct supervision of the County Clerk, the person in this position will perform the following:

  • Reviews and manages departmental payroll and timekeeping records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with county policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and processes departmental accounts payable activities, including invoices, reimbursements, and vendor payments.
  • Assists with departmental budget preparation, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting activities.
  • Supports grant research, grant application preparation, and monitoring of grant expenditures and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources, department leadership, and staff regarding payroll, budgeting, grant, and financial matters.
  • Corresponds and problem solves in a professional manner with staff, co-workers, department leadership, vendors, and outside agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
